Wales team bus involved in accident en route to training at Euro 2025

The Welsh women's team bus was involved in a road accident on Tuesday as it made its way to the stadium where Wales will take on France at Euro 2025 the following day.

"The Football Association of Wales (FAW) can confirm that the Cymru (Wales) national team bus has been involved in a road traffic accident whilst travelling to Arena St Gallen for their matchday -1 training session ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Women's Euro 2025 match against France," an FAW statement said.

"All passengers on the Cymru national team bus and in the other vehicle are unharmed.

"The FAW's priority has been to remove the players from the scene and return to the Cymru training base to complete their preparations for tomorrow's match."

Although no players or members of staff were injured, the Welsh team's training session at the stadium ahead of their second group stage match has been cancelled.

A training session may be scheduled later in the day at the team's base in Weinfelden.

The collision occurred near the team hotel, close to St Gallen. An ambulance was present at the scene to attend to the driver of another vehicle.

Wales head coach Rhian Wilkinson and captain Angharad James were not aboard the bus after travelling separately from the rest of the squad due to media duties.

"Everyone is OK," Wilkinson said at a press conference.

"Our priority is to get them all together and away from the scene. We'll be checking in to make sure they all continue to be OK."

Wilkinson also gave an update on the status of the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident.

"More importantly I think the driver of the other vehicle is OK as well. We will let everyone know once we know for sure," she added.

Following a 3-0 defeat by the Netherlands in their opening match, Wales could be eliminated from their first major international women's tournament if they lose to France and the Dutch get a positive result against England on Wednesday.
