They waited until the final day of Group D qualifying to accomplish the feat, but both Switzerland and Denmark finally confirmed their places at Euro 2020 on Monday.

The Swiss topped the section thanks to a routine 6-1 win over Gibraltar, while Denmark also secured progression to next summer's tournament by holding out for a stressful 1-1 draw against Ireland.

The Irish needed a win to pip their opponents to second place in the group, but despite a late surge, they couldn't find the decisive second goal, and will instead hope to qualify via the playoff path.

Denmark, meanwhile, will be making its return to the quadrennial competition after failing to reach the 2016 edition. The Danes were eliminated in the group stage in their last appearance in 2012.

After Monday's slate of action, 19 of the 24 tournament spots are accounted for. The group stage draw is slated for Nov. 30.
