Rayo appoint Francisco Rodriguez after Andoni Iraola's departure

Rayo Vallecano have appointed Francisco Rodriguez as their coach, the Spanish side said late Wednesday in a statement.

Andoni Iraola left to join Bournemouth last week and Rayo filled the gap with former Elche coach Francisco on a one-year deal.

The 45-year-old was sacked with now-relegated Elche bottom of the table in November 2022, after leading them to a mid-table finish the season before.

Francisco has previously coached Girona, Huesca and Almeria among other sides.
