Copa del Rey roundup: Atletico down 3rd-tier Cardassar, Levante through

Madrid, Dec 16, 2020 (AFP) - A largely second-string Atletico Madrid defeated third-tier Cardassar from Mallorca 3-0 on Wednesday to reach the second round of the Copa del Rey.

French international Thomas Lemar with a goal after 24 minutes put Atletico ahead before and Sime Vrsaljko completed a comfortable evening for the Madrid giants.

Top-flight Levante were also in cruise control with Sergio Leon grabbing a hat-trick in a 5-0 rout of another third division outfit, Racing Murcia.

Giorgi Kochorashvili and Coke added further goals in the dying moments.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao, who are all involved in the Spanish Super Cup in January, will only enter the tournament in the round of 32.
