Real Madrid ordered Luka Jovic into confinement at his home after he was visited by a friend who tested positive for COVID-19, ESPN's Adriana Garcia reports.

The friend, who traveled from Belgrade on Monday, was tested upon arrival in Spain and immediately separated from Jovic's entourage after receiving the result. Jovic began his quarantine period as a precautionary measure despite being cleared of infection from a check that was also conducted on Monday.

Jovic will be unavailable for Friday's visit from Alaves and could miss more games thereafter, according to Mario Cortegana of AS.

Although Jovic followed club protocol in having his visitor tested, the news threatens to further harm his reputation at Real Madrid.

The frontman made headlines and was threatened with criminal charges when he flouted quarantine rules during lockdown in his native Serbia. "I am very sorry that some people have not done their job professionally and have not given me specific instructions on how I should behave during my isolation," he wrote on social media in March.

Jovic then suffered a broken foot when he returned to Spain. How the injury occured was a mystery given Real Madrid players were yet to begin training in preparation for La Liga's restart.

Amid these off-field issues, the striker has scored just two league goals in the 2019-20 campaign. Real Madrid paid €60 million to sign Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.
