La Liga season will resume June 11

The 2019-20 La Liga season will resume June 11 with the Seville derby between Sevilla and Real Betis, Spain's National Sports Council (CSD) announced Friday.
"The Spanish football federation (RFEF) and La Liga have agreed, as part of the Contact Group formed together with the National Sports Council, (on) the format of the 11 remaining matchdays to complete La Liga Santander and La Liga SmartBank (the first and second divisions)," read a statement from the CSD, according to ESPN FC's Alex Kirkland.
Fixtures will be played every day of the week until the completion of the campaign July 19, condensing 11 matchdays into a six-week window. All games will be played behind closed doors.
After the Seville derby, the rest of Matchday 28 will take place between June 12 and June 15, with second-place Real Madrid taking on Eibar while leaders Barcelona face Real Mallorca. Barcelona have a two-point edge over Real Madrid.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) won a legal decision Wednesday that granted it authority over scheduling. The RFEF promptly announced that it would allow fixtures to be held each day, skirting previous customs that didn't allow matches on Mondays and Fridays.
The top flight of Spanish football has been suspended since March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Spain is one of the world's most heavily affected nations, with nearly 238,000 coronavirus cases and 27,000 deaths. But the daily death toll has been on a steady decline.
In May, Spain's prime minister, Pedro Sanchez, gave La Liga the green light to return as of June 8 after announcing that many COVID-19 restrictions were being lifted.
Spanish clubs returned to restricted group training earlier in May. Teams were limited to groups of no more than 10 and adhered to strict social distancing guidelines as teams continued to test players and staff.
On Monday, the next phase of relaxed lockdown restrictions will allow La Liga clubs to hold full training sessions and work on tactics ahead of their respective matches.
Spanish clubs previously stated their desire to give players two weeks of full training before returning to action.
