Report: Barcelona board not unanimous over Griezmann signing

Members of the Barcelona hierarchy harbor doubts over signing Antoine Griezmann, potentially giving other clubs an opportunity to approach Atletico Madrid's outgoing forward, the Independent's Miguel Delaney reports.

Although most key figures at the Camp Nou are understood to be interested in Griezmann, others are apparently unimpressed with the 28-year-old's recent video announcing he's ending five seasons at Atleti, and they believe the money would be better spent elsewhere.

Griezmann's current release clause at Atletico Madrid stands at €200 million, but Isaac Suarez of Marca reported last week that the sum drops significantly after July 1. Delaney believes the new release clause will fall to £108 million - or around €122 million in the local currency.

Manchester United are apparently aware of Griezmann's potential availability and have re-established contact with the Frenchman's representatives. With Griezmann's family an influential element of his entourage, it's hoped his brother's United fandom will aid a transfer.

United's likeliest competition for Griezmann, aside from Barcelona, could be Paris Saint-Germain, but they're only expected to pursue the player if Real Madrid try to pluck Kylian Mbappe from the French capital. Manchester City and Real Madrid, meanwhile, aren't interested in Griezmann, while Juventus are believed to lack the financial clout to enter talks.

To free up funds for Griezmann, United may look to offload one or both of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
