Valencia announced on Friday that forward Simone Zaza has joined Italian side Torino before the closing of the Serie A transfer window.

Los Che confirmed the Italy international will move on an initial loan deal, which Il Toro are obligated to make permanent at a later date. Financial details of the transfer haven't been made public.

The transfer came somewhat out of left field, as leading Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello sport reported earlier on Friday that the striker was preparing to sign with Sampdoria, a rival Serie A side, before Torino offered him better terms.

Zaza's latest switch continues a nomadic career for the 27-year-old, who has already played for nine clubs since turning pro. He spent the last season-and-a-half at Valencia after a horror spell at Premier League side West Ham, scoring 13 goals in 33 La Liga games.

Valencia were known to be shopping the former Juventus man after signing Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro and Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi earlier this summer, and Zaza had been linked with a host of clubs.

However, he's now crossed Turin to become Torino's third signing of Serie A transfer deadline day, following the additions of Villarreal midfielder Roberto Soriano and Nantes defender Koffi Djidji.
