AC Milan finalized a slew of deadline day deals on Friday, signing versatile Uruguayan international Diego Laxalt from Genoa and Spanish attacker Samuel Castillejo from Villarreal on permanent deals.

The 18-time top-flight champions made room on Gennaro Gattuso's roster by sending Colombian striker Carlos Bacca back to Villarreal following his season-long loan with the Yellow Submarine, and sending forward Gianluca Lapadula to Genoa.

Milan announced the signings with a statement, adding that the two new players and Chelsea wantaway Tiemoue Bakayoko will be unveiled to the media on Friday. According to the announcement, Friday's deals complete the club's summer transfer business.

Laxalt makes the Milan switch after a successful World Cup showing with La Celeste. In Russia, he played as a left-back in Oscar Tabarez's back four, though the 25-year-old has also excelled on the left side of the midfield with Genoa. He made his Serie A debut in 2013 against Milan while with Bologna.

The Malaga-born Castillejo is off to the San Siro following a three-year spell with Villarreal in which the Spanish youth international, who goes by "Samu," made 91 league appearances.

Bacca rejoins Villarreal after bagging 15 goals in 30 league appearances on loan last season, while Lapadula, whom Milan plucked from the lower leagues of Italian football in 2016, makes the permanent move to Genoa after spending last season there on loan.

Milan was scheduled to host Genoa on Sunday, but the fixture has since been postponed following the collapse of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa earlier in the week.
