Manchester City outcast Roberts loaned to sister club Girona

Girona acquired Patrick Roberts on a season-long loan from Manchester City on Thursday.

Roberts, 21, arrives after establishing himself as a fan favorite during two-and-a-half years on loan at Glaswegian giants Celtic, and was already named in Girona's matchday squad for Friday's league visit from Real Valladolid.

Eusebio Sacristan's squad is set to begin a second straight season in La Liga and belongs under the City Football Group umbrella with flagship club Manchester City, New York City FC, Melbourne City, Club Atletico Torque, and Yokohama F. Marinos. Aleix Garcia is already on loan with Girona from the reigning Premier League champions, and right-back Pablo Maffeo impressed in Catalonia last term before securing a transfer to VfB Stuttgart this summer.
