Barcelona hit the target once again.

On Thursday, Barcelona and SE Palmeiras reached an agreement for the transfer of Yerry Mina. The deal is valued at €11.8 million, and the Colombian centre-back will join the Blaugrana until June 30, 2023. The termination clause is €100 million.

Mina's professional career started at Deportivo Pasto, but the defender made a name for himself at Independiente Santa Fe. Standing at 1.95 metres, he cuts an imposing figure, and the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana gave him platforms on which his strengths - commanding in the air and quick on the ground - could be seen outside of Colombia.

After Santa Fe was eliminated from the 2016 Copa Libertadores, Mina arrived at Palmeiras, where he added another trophy to his cabinet as the Verdao won the Brasileirao later in the year.

Mina made his debut for Colombia at the Copa America Centenario, taking the pitch as a substitute in Los Cafeteros' 2-1 victory over Paraguay. He became a starter for Los Cafeteros during their 2018 World Cup qualifying adventure, and they kept a clean sheet in four of the five qualifiers in which he played. He also tallied his first international goal as they played out a 2-2 draw with Uruguay.

The agreement was reached five days after Barcelona reached an agreement for the transfer of Philippe Coutinho, reportedly worth €160 million.
