Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal confirmed striker Wayne Rooney is fit play against Everton on Saturday.

Rooney picked up an ankle injury while training with England during the international break and was forced to sit out his country's final two Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonian and Lithuania.

Despite his absence and that of Michael Carrick, who is also available this weekend, England went on to win both matches and secure a 100-percent record in qualifying.

Rooney has struggled to find his form this season, scoring just once in the Premier League in his past 13 games.

But the 29-year-old now has a good chance to redeem himself. United, which currently sits in third place, faces tough week against CSKA Moscow and Manchester City after the trip to Everton.
