In case you were unaware, Manchester United have the option of registering Victor Valdes as the 25th and final player on their Premier League squad.
Valdes suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee back in March. After deciding against renewing his contract with Barcelona this summer, Valdes has been training at Old Trafford as a free agent following an offer from manager Louis van Gaal.
Although the 32-year-old keeper's rehabilitation appears to be going well, van Gaal will reportedly not call on Valdes to replace David de Gea, who could be sidelined after suffering a dislocated finger on international duty.
According to Jamie Jackson at the Guardian, Valdes is still recovering from the knee injury. As a result, he will not be called upon to feature in United's clash against Arsenal on Saturday. Instead, back-up shot-stopper Anders Lindegaard will take over between the posts should de Gea be unable to feature. Ben Amos will assume a bench role for the match.
