Griezmann rebuffs Courtois' 'anti-football' comments: Chelsea isn't Barcelona

Thibaut Courtois' criticism of France playing "anti-football" following its semi-final victory over Belgium did not fall entirely on deaf ears in the French camp.

The Belgian goalkeeper chided the tactics used by Didier Deschamps' side after going up 1-0 courtesy of Samuel Umtiti's 51st-minute header, accusing Les Bleus of doing nothing but defend for the final 39 minutes and change.

But French forward Antoine Griezmann, speaking at a press conference Friday, two days before his country faces Croatia in the final, shot back at Courtois' objections by calling to mind the style of play of the Belgian's club side.

"Does Thibaut Courtois think he plays Barcelona football at Chelsea?" Griezmann said, according to Ben Rumsby of The Telegraph.

Courtois wasn't alone in Belgian criticism of France's style. Fellow Chelsea star Eden Hazard was also disgruntled with how Les Bleus emerged victorious, stating he would rather "lose with this Belgium than win with this France."

Neither Courtois' or Hazard's objections, however, seem to be troubling Griezmann or the rest of his French teammates.

"We don't care about it," Griezmann said. "We don't care how we played ... we won."

France and Croatia will compete in Sunday's World Cup final, while Belgium will face England for a second time in the tournament a day prior to determine which country will finish in third place.
