West Ham signs Yarmolenko from Dortmund for reported £17.5M

Borussia Dortmund officially confirmed the sale of Ukrainian international Andriy Yarmolenko to West Ham on Wednesday, with the Premier League side paying a reported £17.5-million fee, according to Ken Dyer and Jack Rosser of the Evening Standard.

"Of course, I am very happy to sign for West Ham United," the 28-year-old Yarmolenko said in a statement. "West Ham is a big club with good fans and I am happy to come to play in the Premier League.

"The Premier League is the best league in the world and I know that an interesting project is being built here at West Ham. The team wants to achieve high things and I am excited for this challenge."

Yarmolenko made 26 total appearances for Dortmund last season, netting six goals and adding six assists.

He joined the Bundesliga outfit last August after spending just under a decade with Dynamo Kyiv. Yarmolenko scored 137 goals for the Ukrainian side in 340 games. He's also earned 76 caps for Ukraine, scoring 35 international goals in the process.

Yarmolenko joins a growing list of recent transfer activity by the Irons under new boss Manuel Pellegrini.

On Tuesday, West Ham was reportedly in talks to sign Lazio's Felipe Anderson for a £40-million fee. This came a day after the club brought in former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on a free transfer. West Ham has also added goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, right-back Ryan Fredericks, and centre-back Issa Diop - the latter moving from Toulouse for a reported £22-million fee.
