Arsenal will sign former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery as its new manager, reports the BBC's David Ornstein.

Emery's appointment is a sudden shift from Manchester City assistant and former Gunner Mikel Arteta, who had previously been reported as the favourite to succeed Arsene Wenger.

Emery is coming off a season with PSG in which he led the club to a domestic treble consisting of Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Coupe de la Ligue, though he announced he would be stepping down from the French capital after two seasons. He was replaced by German manager Thomas Tuchel.

Prior to his time at PSG, the 46-year-old Spanish manager oversaw La Liga outfit Sevilla, where he guided the Andalusian club to three consecutive Europa League triumphs.

He also had managerial stints with Spartak Moscow, Valencia, and Almeria, leading the latter to its first ever promotion to Spain's top flight in 2007.
