Report: Evans could leave West Brom for just £3M if relegated

Good things come to those who wait.

Potential suitors for Jonny Evans should bide their time in trying to snap up the defender, with BBC Sport's Simon Stone reporting he'll be available for a paltry £3 million if West Bromwich Albion is relegated.

The Baggies value Evans at £23 million, but news of such a small release clause in his contract may see interested parties sit back and keep a close eye on West Brom's relegation battle, or simply submit lower offers.

Manchester City and Arsenal have been linked to a move for the 30-year-old since last summer, while Leicester City and Everton are also monitoring the situation. Evans has 18 months remaining on his paperwork at the Hawthorns, and it's believed the centre-back isn't willing to sign fresh terms.

It's understood West Brom will part with Evans if Alan Pardew can reinvest the money in his attack.

West Brom is on a disastrous run of form, winning once in 22 matches and not enjoying a significant upturn in performance since Pardew succeeded Tony Pulis in the hot seat in November. The 19th-placed club could be in a worse state by transfer deadline day when it travels to runaway leader Manchester City, four days after an FA Cup fourth-round skirmish in Liverpool.

Perhaps the Jan. 31 meeting at the Etihad Stadium will be a convenient setting to broker an 11th-hour switch for Evans.
