Arsenal is weighing whether to sign unsettled Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after opening talks with the Bundesliga outfit, according to The Telegraph's Matt Law.

With wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez set to join one of the Manchester clubs in the next 48 hours, the club's new head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, has identified Aubameyang as a potential addition.

The 28-year-old is reportedly looking to leave Dortmund after being kept out of Sunday's match against Wolfsburg for disciplinary reasons. Dortmund removed Aubameyang from the matchday squad in November for similar misconduct. He was also sent to the stands in November 2016 following an unauthorised trip to Milan.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may need some convincing to bring in a player with such a chequered past, Law added.

But Mislintat should know Aubameyang better than most. The German was the one who lured the Gabonese international to Dortmund in 2013. Aubameyang has since scored 98 goals in 143 league appearances for BVB.

It's unclear how much Arsenal would offer for the former Saint-Etienne poacher.

Aubameyang looked likely to leave Dortmund in the summer with AC Milan sniffing around for a top-tier striker. He was also the subject of interest from China, but a 100 percent luxury tax on foreign signings has prevented the likes of Guangzhou Evergrande from pursuing a deal.
