Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that captain Vincent Kompany will be unavailable for selection ahead of Wednesday's clash with Swansea City after picking up a muscular injury during Sunday's Manchester derby.

He's expected to make a quick recovery but his status for City's encounter with Tottenham on Saturday remains unknown.

"Hopefully he is not far away [from a return]," Guardiola told reporters Tuesday.

Kompany, who missed over two months with a calf injury earlier this season, started Sunday's match against Manchester United before he was replaced by Ilkay Gundogan at half-time.
