Wenger denies reports that Arsenal presented final contract offer to Ozil
Reports that Arsenal offered Mesut Ozil a 'take-it-or-leave-it' are unfounded according to manager Arsene Wenger.
It was thought that the north London side had presented one final contract to the German midfielder as he gets set to enter the final six months of his current deal.
Wenger dismissed the report, saying he prefers a discreet approach to negotiations, echoing his previous intention to keep both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, whose contract also expires after the season.
"Negotiations are always going on with everybody," Wenger told reporters, according to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, ahead of Arsenal's match Wednesday against West Ham United.
"I said that many times [that I want Sanchez and Ozil to stay] and that's all we can say.
"Is it two years to go? One year to go? Three months to go? The door is always open and for the rest I cannot tell you much more."
Wenger added he would also like to see Olivier Giroud remain with the club after the French striker revealed to French media that leaving in January is a possibility in an attempt to find regular playing time ahead of the World Cup.
