Bolasie returns to Everton training pitches after 11-month layoff
Finally, some pace.
Yannick Bolasie's return to the Finch Farm training pitches on Wednesday was warmly welcomed by his senior teammates at Everton, with the Congolese winger entering the final stages of an 11-month layoff.
The 28-year-old suffered cruciate ligament damage in a draw with Manchester United in December 2016, which has since resulted in two operations. His serious setback occurred in just his 12th league outing for Everton following a summer move from Crystal Palace worth around Β£25 million.
The Toffees have been regularly criticised for lacking pace and width in the current campaign. Bolasie should help address those shortcomings, having been one of the most potent dribblers in the 2015-16 Premier League season ahead of his shift to Merseyside. He was on form before falling to his injury, fashioning four assists and one goal.
Caretaker manager David Unsworth previously revealed Bolasie and Seamus Coleman are edging closer to returning to Premier League action, with the former hoped to be back by the new year. Coleman suffered a double fracture of his right leg on Ireland duty in March.
