Winners and losers from Tottenham's victory over Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Liverpool for the first time since 2012 on Sunday, overwhelming the Reds with its counter-attacking football and exiting Wembley Stadium with a 4-1 win.

Winner - Harry Kane

Harry Kane is clearly unaffected by the spotlight. Five days after a performance at Real Madrid in which his impact allowed Tottenham to escape the Santiago Bernabeu with a point, the English striker was at it again, exploiting Liverpool's abysmal defending to produce two goals and one assist. He drew first blood by manufacturing a finish that was deceptively competent, curled a fantastic pass to Heung-Min Son ahead of Spurs' second goal, and found the back of the net after the Reds failed to deal with a free-kick.

If that wasn't enough, Kane also left a defender or two for dead with a sublime piece of skill, and was so high on confidence that he attempted to score from Tottenham's half of the pitch.

Loser - Dejan Lovren

It was a short day at the office for Dejan Lovren, who was so substandard that Jurgen Klopp replaced the Croatian defender with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the 31st minute, forcing Joe Gomez to move to centre-back, Emre Can to right-back, and Philippe Coutinho into the midfield. Basically, the German manager had to alter his entire blueprint because of the GNK Dinamo product.

Lovren failed to play Kane into an offside position ahead of the first goal, losing a step on the one-club wonder by appealing for a raised flag instead of shutting him down. Less than 10 minutes later, he ran straight past a throw-in in baffling fashion, allowing Tottenham to score its second goal.

It was, simply put, a nightmare of a game for Lovren.

Winner - Harry Winks

It's easy to forget that Harry Winks is only 21 years old. The English midfielder embodies Tottenham's drive and composure, and, while he tends to feature as a No. 8, he's versatile and able to adjust when Mauricio Pochettino decides to change tactics.

Playing in front of Tottenham's defence, Winks enjoyed another fine display in Spurs' demolition of Liverpool, and it was his free-kick that triggered the chaos which led to Kane's second goal. His future looks brighter and brighter each time he touches the ball.

Loser - Emre Can

Emre Can was pretty useless. His contributions to the game included firing the ball into orbit, a blocked shot, and a booking after a poor foul on Dele Alli, who exacted revenge with a nutmeg. He was deservedly replaced by Marko Grukic before the final whistle.

Winner - Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona, who was in attendance, is always a winner, and was smiling alongside Pochettino, a compatriot and former teammate at Newell's Old Boys.
