Watford forward Troy Deeney blamed Hector Bellerin's long locks for obstructing the Arsenal defender's vision during a crucial penalty decision Saturday.

Bellerin was adjudged to have fouled Richarlison in the area before Deeney converted from the spot to bring Watford level in the 71st minute.

Watford went on to snatch the three points away from Arsenal thanks to Tom Cleverley's injury-time winner, but Bellerin disputed the match official's decision to award the penalty.

Deeney, however, suggested that perhaps it's time Bellerin visit a barber.

"He had his long hair in the way, he can't see what he's doing," Deeney joked.

"I know Hector, he's a good pal of mine. But that's a penalty and I'm pretty sure if it was the other way around, he'd be screaming that was a penalty all day."

The English forward added more fuel to the fire when he provided a candid assessment of the north London side during an interview with BT commentators after the match.

"I’ve heard Wenger’s already blaming (the penalty) as the reason for why they lost, he said, as quoted by the Evening Standard. "Well, I’m not going to be one to tell Mr. Wenger about himself, but there’s a reason that they lost and it wasn’t because of one penalty.

"I have to watch what I say, but it’s [having] a bit of cojones, is what I’ll say. Whenever I play against Arsenal, I’ll go up and think, ‘Let me whack the first one and see who wants it.'

"I came on today and jumped up with Mertesacker — I didn’t even have to jump, actually — I nodded it down, the crowd gets up, ‘Yeah, we’ve got somebody who can win it,’ and they all just backed off."

The victory saw Watford leapfrog Arsenal in the table, as Marco Silva's side move into fourth place with 15 points through eight matches. Meanwhile, Arsenal remains winless on the road after four matches.
