The Clarets announced the move Thursday, adding that the previously unattached Dane joins the club on a one-year deal.

Nick Pope has been handed first-choice duties by Sean Dyche after Heaton dislocated his shoulder against Crystal Palace, and now, Lindegaard will get an opportunity to again play in the Premier League after making 19 appearances for Manchester United between 2010 and 2015.

"I’ve had a good week here and I’ve had a very good impression of the whole club and all the people here. It’s not hard to fit in nicely here," Lindegaard said Thursday.

Lindegaard, 33, spent the last week on trial with the Clarets after leaving Preston North End in the summer, and from the sounds of it, the five-time capped international is ready to fight for a spot.

"I am here to try and sharpen up the competition in the goalkeepers’ department and we’ll see what happens down the line."
