1 start, 1 goal: Harrop to join Preston after swift United career
Josh Harrop's perfect conversion rate wasn't enough to earn him another contract at Manchester United.
The Premier League side announced Friday that the 21-year-old - who scored in his only start for the senior squad during United's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the final day of the season - will join Preston North End when his contract expires at the end of the month.
"I'm 21 now and I'm confident in myself, I need to play first team football to get myself out there," Harrop, who put pen to paper on a four-year contract, said in an interview on Preston's website. "That wasn't guaranteed at United, even though they offered me a new contract it was very limited in game time and so I couldn't take that risk at my age."
Harrop led United's reserve team in scoring with 10 goals in 25 appearances last season.
