Bayern Munich rules out Lewandowski transfer

Bayern Munich moved quickly to deny the reported departure of Robert Lewandowski this summer and threatened to alert FIFA over any possible contact with the forward from interested teams.

The Bundesliga champion issued a statement Wednesday to address reports suggesting that Lewandowski is on the verge of a transfer that could see the Polish striker move to England and join either Chelsea or Manchester United.

Bayern assured that Lewandowski hasn't been in contact with other teams and is expected to fulfill the remainder of his long-term contract.

Robert Lewandowski is under contract at Bayern and only recently renewed his deal until 2021. Bayern Munich waste no thought on a Lewandowski move.

There are no talks with other clubs, and there won't be any. If other clubs negotiate with players who are under long-term contracts, they risk FIFA punishment. The agent also confirmed to us that he has not held any contract talks.

Sky Sports' Guillem Balague had reported earlier that Lewandowski's representatives have engaged in negotiations with the two Premier League teams, adding that the 29-year-old would prefer joining Chelsea.

It's the second statement that Bayern has issued this week after debunking reports linking the club with Cristiano Ronaldo, who is reportedly disgruntled at Real Madrid.
