Manchester City's Jesus suffers broken eye socket against Argentina

Nicolas Otamendi may be hesitant to meet Pep Guardiola's gaze when he returns to Manchester City training.

Courtesy of the Argentine defender's elbow, fellow City first-teamer Gabriel Jesus suffered a fractured left orbital bone while playing for Brazil in Friday's international friendly.

The 20-year-old was stretchered off in the final moments of the 1-0 loss, and tests diagnosed him with a fractured eye socket.

Jesus, for his part, tweeted "Estou bem" ("I am fine") on Saturday morning, but confirmed later in the day he needed surgery.

The injury is unlikely to have any bearing on the 2017-18 Premier League campaign. However, he's out of the Brazil picture for now, with Canarinho boss Tite expected to start Diego Souza in his stead against the Socceroos at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday.
