United's Gomes becomes 1st player born in 2000s to play in Premier League
As one Manchester United career ends, another one begins, as 16-year-old Angel Gomes came on late for Wayne Rooney during Sunday's victory over Crystal Palace, becoming the first player born in the 2000s to play in the Premier League.

The London-born midfielder came on in the 88th minute for Rooney as United fielded a young side with Jose Mourinho's focus trained on Wednesday's Europa League final against Ajax.

Gomes, 16, becomes the third player born this century to make an appearance in one of Europe's top five leagues, joining Metz's Vincent Thill and Juventus forward Moise Kean.
