Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has now been banned from all football competitions, including friendlies with his country France, after FIFA decided to extend his 30-day provisional ban for an anti-doping violation.
Sakho reportedly tested positive for a fat burner following Liverpool's Europa League quarter-final defeat of Manchester United on March 17. UEFA imposed the initial ruling on April 28, meaning Sakho would miss the remainder of the club season.
The 26-year-old accepted the charge, as he didn't request his B sample to be tested.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp didn't consider Sakho for selection upon learning of the news of his doping violation. UEFA's ban soon followed.

Although France hosts Cameroon in a friendly on May 30, the date is three days after Sako's initial ban expires. The results of a UEFA investigation will determine the true length of the suspension. If Kolo Toure's previous transgression for a similar offence is a measuring stick, Sakho could be looking at several months out of football.
