PARIS - Victor Dubuisson birdied three of his last seven holes to finish 3-under 68 through the first round of his home French Open on Thursday.
Play was suspended due to thunderstorms, with Maximilian Kieffer in the lead at 4-under through 14 holes.
Dubuisson, one of 29 French players in the field, finished tied with Austria's Bernd Wiesberger at Le Golf National - the course that will host the Ryder Cup in 2018.
A superb approach shot that span back to within a foot of the pin on No. 5 was among the highlights of Dubuisson's round, which start on the 10th hole. He also birdied the third and seventh holes after reaching the turn at level par.
Two-time major winner Martin Kaymer finished with a 2-under 69, putting him in a tie for seventh spot.
Graeme McDowell, seeking a third straight French Open title, was 1-over through 17 when play was halted.
