Jon Rahm was in a prime position to give himself a look at eagle on the par-5 eighth before hitting two of the most relatable shots for amateurs watching at home.

From 259 yards out, the world No. 2 did this:

After his snap hook found the left trees, Rahm attempted to split the uprights with his third shot. But, all you weekend warriors out there know how horribly wrong these types of punch-out shots can go:

For those who missed the Spaniard squarely hitting the three, here's his shot tracker.

Rahm was forced to take an unplayable drop and eventually found the putting surface with his fifth shot before two-putting for a double-bogey seven.

The disastrous hole moved him from four shots off Dustin Johnson's lead to six.

The last golfer to double-bogey a par 5 and go on to win the Masters was Jack Nicklaus in 1972, according to Fox Sports' Shane Bacon.
