It was a long day for Tiger Woods at Augusta National.

The defending champion was forced to come out early Saturday morning to complete Friday's round before quickly turning around to play another 18. He failed to mount a charge in Round 3 with an even-par 72.

CBS broadcaster and former Masters champion Trevor Immelman said Woods told him he was up at 3:45 a.m. ET to prepare for the grueling day, and the fatigue took its toll.

"These are long days," Tiger said afterward. "I had my day off yesterday, which was nice. Today was not the case. We've been at it for quite some time. It's just part of the deal. If you have long days like this, I'm going to get a little bit sore, which I definitely am."

Woods appeared to move gingerly when bending over to pick up his tee or his ball out of the hole.

"The hard part is bending and twisting," he added. "I think that's part of the game, though, and so that's always been the challenge with my back issues and I guess will always continue to be."

The 44-year-old was 2-over through 11 with no birdies on his scorecard until he birdied Nos. 12 and 15 to get back to par for the day.

When his third round ended, Tiger sat in a tie for 21st and 10 shots behind leader Dustin Johnson.
