European Tour postpones Irish Open
The European Tour announced the postponement of the Irish Open on Monday, which pushes the circuit's potential restart date to at least June.
"As important as the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open is to all of us, everyone’s health is our only concern," tournament host Graeme McDowell said. "My thoughts are with everyone affected by the crisis and I hope everyone keeps safe and well during these difficult times."
The event was scheduled to take place at Mount Juliet Estate from May 28-31 with Jon Rahm as the defending champion. Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy was also set to participate after skipping the 2019 edition.
A total of 13 events on the European Tour schedule have either been postponed or canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Irish Open is the first Rolex Series tournament to be impacted.
