Twitter teed off again as Rahm sparks another rules controversy at Irish Open
Here we go again. Another rules controversy in golf.
Lexi Thompson made headlines in April for a minor rules infraction that cost her a major championship, which set off a firestorm on Twitter.
Jon Rahm sparked another controversy on Sunday at the Irish Open - a tournament he'd win by six shots - after some questionable ball-marking, and social media again chimed in.
I mean it's not a Sunday in golf w/o a rules issue! Apparently Rahm incorrectly replaced ball after marking it on the 6th. If so, 2-shots.

It's time for a clearer definition of intent. Friendlier terminology has only led to larger grey area. Rahm will see it's a clear violation

And Rahm was 5 not 3 ahead, which changes the dynamic of the competition completely. The field was not protected and integrity diminished.

Why do it ? It's a 1 foot tap in 😡😡😡 pic.twitter.com/lemSC0Q1EB

That should be a one stroke penalty. And if John Rahm is a gentleman he will mark it himself when he is in the scoring tent. #IrishOpen 😎

It would've been a two-shot penalty, not a one-stroke penalty.
Wonder what Lexi Thompson thinks about ruling decision not to penalize Jon Rahm for marking his ball in a different position. #DDFIrishOpen

So Jon Rahm gets no penalty for not replacing his ball on the green correctly yet Lexi Thompson does the same and loses a major? #usga
