Watch: Southgate nearly holes shot from absurd lie at Irish Open

Matthew Southgate made a bogey on the par-4 11th Saturday at the Irish Open, but it wasn't a bad score considering where he played his third shot from.
Southgate found the thick, long bracken right of the putting surface with his approach shot, leaving an impossible third attempt, and likely a big number on the scorecard. However, the Englishman grabbed his wedge, chopped the ball barely out of the gnarly lie, and watched it nearly roll into the hole for birdie.
The 28-year-old posted a 71 on Day 3, and sits at 12-under for the tournament.
