Newport County goalkeeper Tom King is now a world-record holder.

The 25-year-old made history when his equalizer during Tuesday night's League Two contest against Cheltenham broke the world record for the longest goal in a competitive football match, according to Guinness World Records.

The gusty conditions at Whaddon Road helped King's strike from his own six-yard box travel 96.01 meters (105 yards) before ending up in his counterpart's net.

King's long-distance effort broke Asmir Begovic's record, which stood for seven years after the Bosnian 'keeper scored from 91.9 meters (100.50 yards) out for Stoke City in November 2013.
