London, Oct 23, 2019 (AFP) - Nottingham Forest blew the chance to go second in the Championship as 10-man Hull won 2-1 at the City Ground on Wednesday.

The impressive Jon Toral created both goals for the visitors on his first league start for 17 months, with Josh Magennis and Jarrod Bowen the beneficiaries.

Matty Cash pulled one back for the promotion-chasing hosts before Magennis was sent-off.

Forest were unable to force an equaliser, although they were denied what looked a clear penalty when Reece Burke brought down Sammy Ameobi.

Bristol City moved up to fourth thanks to Josh Brownhill's 98th-minute winner to beat Charlton 2-1.

The midfielder raced on to a long ball down the middle before firing past Dillon Phillips.

Charlton had taken a 65th-minute lead when City goalkeeper Dan Bentley unwisely advanced to the corner of his penalty area only to be beaten to the ball by Macauley Bonne, who coolly slotted into an empty net.

Substitute Famara Diedhiou levelled 10 minutes later, but he was then shown an 86th-minute red card for taking a swipe at Jason Pearce following a challenge on him by the centre-back.

However, the Robins still snatched all three points to move to within a point of Leeds in the second automatic promotion place.

Fulham are just two points further back with four points separating leaders West Brom from Swansea in ninth.

Aleksandar Mitrovic's hat-trick earned Fulham a 3-2 win over Luton to continue his fantastic form.

The Serbian striker has now scored eight in his last five games for club and country and made sure Dan Potts and Kazenga LuaLua's strikes were only a consolation for Luton at Craven Cottage.

Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate saw the pressure intensify on his position after a 0-0 draw at Huddersfield extended his side's winless run to six matches.

The struggling Teessiders have won just twice in 14 games since the former England and Real Madrid defender took charge and sit just a point above the relegation zone.

Derby grabbed a late winner thanks to Graeme Shinnie's first goal for the club to beat Wigan 1-0 at Pride Park.
