Former Argentina manager Marcelo Bielsa has emerged as a candidate for the managing vacancy at Leeds United.

The Championship side has held talks with Bielsa to gauge his interest in filling the void left by manager Paul Heckingbottom, according to BBC Sport.

Signing Bielsa would be somewhat of a coup for Leeds, as the club would be in the hands of a manager who has a wealth of experience coaching notable clubs such as Athletic Bilbao, Marseille, and, most recently, Lille.

The 62-year-old has also enjoyed spells on the international stage, managing Argentina for six years before spending another four with Chile.

Leeds missed out on the play-offs last term with a disappointing 13th-place finish. Heckingbottom was sacked shortly after the season concluded.
