De Jong came on for Vurnon Anita in the 70th minute of Newcastle's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.

Analysis:

De Jong almost secured three points for Newcastle after mustering a shot on target in the 88th minute, but Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan was able to smother the chance. The Holland international will be a welcomed addition to a Newcastle attack that after two matches is looking rather anemic.
