Premier League scenario 'looked unlikely': Man City's Silva
Bernardo Silva said after Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Etihad on Sunday that the chance to pull level with the Gunners looked unlikely just two weeks ago.
Pep Guardiola's team will leapfrog the long-time Premier League leaders if they beat relegation-bound Burnley on Wednesday.
Erling Haaland was City's matchwinner against Arsenal, netting in the 65th minute after Rayan Cherki's superb opener was cancelled out by Kai Havertz.
"It puts us in a position where if we win the game in hand, we are on the same points," said City's captain Silva.
"And if you look, two weeks ago, this didn't look very likely, this scenario. So, yeah, tough game, a good game, but we're happy."
Silva, in his final season at the Etihad, was wary when asked whether City's name was destined to be etched onto the trophy.
"It's a long season," he said. "I think a lot of small details didn't go our way this season.
"Not only decisions, but also unlucky plays that we had. We missed a lot of chances, we had a lot of games that we should have won, and today things went our way."
Matchwinner Haaland said that City would remain focused as they prepare to travel to Burnley.
"On Wednesday we have a new final, so now, when we are done speaking here, it's about starting to focus and recover and prepare for Burnley.
"The Burnley game is as important as this game, and as the Chelsea game was, so we need to focus, we need to stay humble, don't think too much, and focus on the next."
