Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte is set to follow in Riyad Mahrez's footsteps to the Saudi Pro League.

The former club-record signing is closing in on a move away from the Etihad Stadium after Manchester City accepted an undisclosed offer from Al-Nassr, reports Simon Stone of BBC Sport.

The Spain international won five Premier League titles after joining Manchester City from Athletic Bilbao for £57 million in 2018.

But Laporte struggled for playing time last season, as manager Pep Guardiola preferred to deploy Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake at the back during Manchester City's historic treble-winning season.

Manchester City have beefed up their defense this summer with the arrival of Josko Gvardiol, 21, from RB Leipzig in a transfer that cost the Premier League club £77 mllion.

A move to Al-Nassr will see Laporte team up with Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alex Telles at the Saudi club.

His former teammate Mahrez left Manchester City for Saudi side Al-Ahli in July for £30 million.
