Look: Denmark unveils toned-down World Cup kits in protest of Qatar

Denmark's kit supplier unveiled toned-down World Cup uniforms designed to protest the human rights record of host nation Qatar.

Danish sportswear company Hummel said in a statement Wednesday: "This shirt carries with it a message.

"We don't wish to be visible during a tournament that has cost thousands of people their lives. We support the Danish national team all the way, but that isn't the same as supporting Qatar as a host nation."

The logos on the home, away, and third kits have been made faint as they are the same color as the respective jerseys. Denmark's black uniform was designed in honor of migrant workers who've died during construction work ahead of the tournament, which starts in November.

In February 2021, The Guardian revealed that more than 6,500 migrant workers died after Qatar won the right to host the 2022 World Cup in 2010.
