By the numbers: Manchester United's embarrassing derby loss
Manchester United put forth another disjointed display against a rival club Saturday, suffering humiliation at the hands of Manchester City in a 2-0 defeat that showed the enormous gulf between the two sides. Don't be fooled by the scoreline: This was as comprehensive as Liverpool's 5-0 destruction of the Red Devils - also at Old Trafford - just two weeks ago.
Below, we review some of the damning evidence highlighting just how poorly Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side performed in the derby defeat.
2 - Manchester United had more shot attempts on their own net - one each from defenders Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof - than they did on Manchester City's goal at the other end. Bailly's unfortunate redirection beat David De Gea for the contest's opening tally.
Utd have had more shots against de gea than against ederson… This can’t be real!

4 - Kevin De Bruyne was far from his sparkling best, but the Belgian still created more chances (four) than the entire Manchester United team.
8 - United have now lost eight home matches across all competitions in the calendar year. That hasn't happened since 1989.
11 - Norwich City - who entered the weekend in last place in the Premier League with just two points - have conceded fewer goals at Carrow Road (10) than Manchester United have at Old Trafford (11) this season.
14 - The Red Devils haven't recorded a clean sheet at home in 14 games across all competitions. It's their worst run since a 21-game streak from April 1958 to March 1959.
21 - In perhaps the most staggering stat to emerge from Saturday's contest, 21% of Manchester United's home defeats in Premier League history have now come with Solskjaer at the helm, according to Duncan Alexander of The Analyst. Is he on borrowed time?
71 - Manchester City had 71% possession versus their outclassed rivals. Even against a Pep Guardiola-coached team that prides itself on retaining the ball, that's a harrowing figure for United, especially at home.
Manchester City are not possessing the ball, they are confiscating it.

753 - Manchester City completed 753 passes Saturday. No team has racked up more against Manchester United in a Premier League match since Opta began recording pass data at the start of the 2003-04 season.
