James Rodriguez has left Everton to join Qatari club Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League side announced Wednesday.

Rodriguez played regularly under former manager Carlo Ancelotti last season after joining the Toffees from Real Madrid in September 2020.

But Ancelotti's successor, Rafael Benitez, informed the Colombian international this past summer that he was surplus to requirements, according to Patrick Boyland of The Athletic.

Rodriguez scored six goals over 26 appearances during his year at Goodison Park.
