Greater Manchester Police confirmed a Premier League player was arrested Friday on suspicion of child sexual abuse offenses, according to The Guardian.
The player was released on bail after questioning. His identity cannot be made public due to legal reasons.
Everton announced Monday that they have suspended a first-team player pending a police investigation.
"The club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time," reads the club-issued statement.
The club did not confirm whether the player in question is the same one who was arrested and questioned by police.
