Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo over their longstanding coaching vacancy, sources told ESPN's James Olley.

Spurs reportedly turned to Nuno - who departed Wolves by "mutual agreement" in May - after holding talks with former manager Mauricio Pochettino, ex-Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte, former AS Roma tactician Paulo Fonseca, and ex-Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso.

Negotiations are ongoing with the Portuguese coach, who remains available after ending talks with Crystal Palace earlier this month, according to Olley.

Tottenham have also been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion's Graham Potter and Ajax's Erik ten Hag.

The north London side has gone without a permanent manager since firing Jose Mourinho in April. Ryan Mason served in an interim capacity until the end of the season.

Tottenham reportedly backed out of a deal to hire Fonseca last week. Gattuso then emerged as a leading candidate, only for the club to reverse course amid heavy criticism from supporters.

Fabio Paratici, the club's new director of football, reportedly has a close working relationship with agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Nuno and Gattuso.

Nuno had two years remaining on his contract with Wolves. The 47-year-old led the club back to the Premier League in 2018 and subsequently secured a seventh-place finish, its highest rank in the English top flight since the late 1970s.
