Tottenham Hotspur are still hitting dead ends in their search for a new manager.

Sevilla president Jose Castro says the club's boss, Julen Lopetegui, recently shunned a "dizzying" offer to take control of Spurs, along with other approaches "he'd not listened to."

"Julen rang me and told me," Castro told Spanish radio station Cadena SER, according to BBC Sport.

"Some coaches are more driven by economic factors, but Julen is very clear that he is happy here, and he even said it would be very difficult to find a better place to work than here.

"We believed, and believe, in him, giving him a two-year contract extension, and I'm sure he will bring much more to the club."

Lopetegui managed FC Porto, Spain, and Real Madrid before he was appointed by Sevilla in June 2019. He won the Europa League in his first season at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan and has led Sevilla to back-to-back fourth-place finishes in La Liga.

Tottenham have been on the lookout for a full-time manager since dismissing Jose Mourinho in April. Ryan Mason oversaw the Premier League side on an interim basis for the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign.

Spurs have also been linked with approaches for Antonio Conte, Hansi Flick, ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Brendan Rodgers, Julian Nagelsmann, Paulo Fonseca, and Gennaro Gattuso.
