Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny will continue to self-isolate after testing positive for COVID-19 again, the Egyptian Football Federation confirmed Wednesday.

It's the second time that the two players have returned positive test results while on international duty with Egypt. Neither player reported experiencing any symptoms after their initial diagnoses.

Salah was ruled out of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches last week after the first test. The Liverpool star attended his brother's wedding shortly before the positive result, but the mayor of the town where the event took place insisted proper distancing was maintained.

Salah is expected to miss Sunday's Premier League match against Leicester City, and it's unclear when he'll be available for an injury-ravaged Liverpool squad.

The Reds were already dealing with the losses of Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho before the break. But the crisis at Anfield deepened after Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson suffered injuries while on England duty.

Salah provided an update for his Twitter followers on Tuesday, saying, "I'd like to thank everyone for the supportive messages and well wishes. I'm confident I'll be back on the field soon."

Meanwhile, Elneny has been in self-isolation since first testing positive on Nov. 16. He is expected to miss Arsenal's match against Leeds United on Sunday.

Egypt beat Togo twice during the international break, with Elneny appearing in the first game before missing the Pharaohs' 3-1 victory on Tuesday.
