Liverpool will be without Fabinho for Saturday's Premier League tilt with West Ham United due to a hamstring injury, manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

While the timeframe for his return remains uncertain, Klopp suggests the Brazilian - who has filled in at center-back for the injured Virgil van Dijk - could be sidelined beyond this weekend's contest.

“Fab is not in, that's clear. He got a little injury and so he will be out for the weekend and probably slightly longer," Klopp said.

"That’s one thing, but all the others who are fit will be in contention, either on the pitch or on the bench and coming on."

The 27-year-old suffered the injury during the first half of Liverpool's 2-0 victory over FC Midtjylland in the Champions League on Tuesday.

It's understood that the hamstring issue will keep Fabinho out until after the international break, according to The Athletic's James Pearce.

Along with the West Ham match, Fabinho could also be set to miss games against Atalanta and Manchester City before possibly returning to the squad ahead of Liverpool's encounter with Leicester City following the international break.

The club called upon Fabinho to replace Van Dijk in the heart of Liverpool's defense after the Dutch international suffered a serious knee injury earlier in October that could force him to miss the rest of the season.
