Cavani still isolating, won't make Manchester United debut this weekend
New Manchester United signing Edinson Cavani will not be able to make his debut against Newcastle United on Saturday due to COVID-19 quarantine rules, the club confirmed.
The veteran striker, who secured a move to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day, has to self-isolate until Sunday after traveling to England from France.
"The Uruguay international will be free to play against his former club Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, though, if deemed fit and ready for action," the Red Devils said in a statement.
Manchester United open their Champions League campaign against Cavani's old club on Oct. 20.
The 33-year-old has been training in self-isolation at home since arriving in Manchester on Oct. 4 and hasn't played a competitive match since March 11.
In addition to Cavani, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will also be without Anthony Martial for the next three domestic matches following the Frenchman's red card in United's 6-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.
